Ladies and gentlemen, we are almost there. 24 hours until the beginning of Season 2 of the Overwatch League. Time indeed flies with all the side action we are getting from the Contenders Seasons and Open League that the OWL2019 just snuck up on us.

The league has expanded from 12 to 20 teams which promises more action, more drama and even more competition than ever before. Will any of the new teams challenge the existing powers that be or will last seasons’ champions come out swinging?

What is coming?

During the offseason eight new cities and team bases have joined the OWL: Atlanta, Toronto, Washington D.C., Paris. Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Chengdu, making the league truly global in scale. This results in an even larger weekly schedule and action to enjoy. For the avid fans there was a plethora of high profile roster moves between the current and new organizations, that make it almost impossible to cover it all in one article. For example, the Vancouver Titans picking up the entire Contenders Season 2 Champion squad of RunAway or the Shanghai Dragons picking up most of the KongDoo Panthera roster.

The guys at Liquipedia are meticulous at tracking most of the roster swaps on their page for those really interested in taking a deep dive on what went on in the offseason. The Roster moves section of the following link contains all the details about the who, what and when swaps went down in the offseason: Liquipedia.net – Overwatch League – 2019

Currently, a Community Countdown event is being held to publicize the start of the OWL 2019 League Season with a series of public show matches and scrims for the legion of fans awaiting the begging of the season.

When is it coming?

To many fans the action already started with the scrims and showdown matches. The drama soon follows, when in a high profile “snipe” the Boston Uprising MT Gamsu departs the team and joins the Shanghai Dragons 2 days before the season kicks off.

Officially, the four days of the Week  1 extravaganza will kick off action on February 14th with a rematch of last season’s final between the Philadelphia Fusion and the London Spitfire.

In the first four week days watch out for the Shanghai Dragons vs Hangzhou Spark on Day1, the Dallas Fuel vs San Francisco Shock on Day 2, and the Vancouver Titans vs Shanghai Dragons on Day 3 for the “most bang for your buck” effect.  The full schedule and all the official news are available on the central Overwatch hub at Overwatchleague.com – Schedule
