Let’s face it, gamers love free stuff. Especially in times that see micro-transactions in just about every game on the market. There’s nothing wrong with this of course… except maybe that there never seems to be enough free stuff to go around!
That’s why it’s especially exciting when great free stuff rolls around. This is definitely the case here: While it’s not really unusual for Twitch Prime or Amazon Prime customers to get freebies, they’re not always that great – this one is the exception of course!
The latest free pack for users consists of two Wrecking Ball lootboxes that subscribers can claim between now and September 3rd. These two boxes contain four items for Overwatch’s newest and probably most adorable hero – Hammond, aka Wrecking Ball.
The four items are randomized, but there’s some good stuff in there – oh, and that’s not all. In addition to these two boxes, subscribers can also claim a Golden Loot Box in September and October respectively. That’s some ripe pickings for Overwatch and Amazon fans!
Of course, as is often the case, this free stuff comes with some small print – in order to claim the rewards you have to own a copy of Overwatch – though, if you didn’t you probably wouldn’t be reading this anyway, and you can only claim each reward once per account. In other words, even if your mother has a Prime subscription and doesn’t play Overwatch, you can’t claim her pack on your account if you’ve already claimed one.
Those are pretty reasonable restrictions. Also, the packs won’t contain any limited-time seasonal event items, but that’s probably not really a surprise either. If you have Twitch or Amazon Prime and you want to claim your sweet loot, first you’ll need to link your accounts if you haven’t already.
Then, on Twitch.tv, you need to click on the crown icon next to the search bar. That will open a drop-down menu with all the promotions you can claim. This includes the new Overwatch loot boxes, but also later promotions you may be able to claim like the Golden boxes. Once you’ve found the reward you want to claim – in this case, the Wrecking Ball boxes, click on them and give Twitch access to your Blizzard account.
That will let you claim the free lot for PC, PS4 or Xbox One. Then, all you need to do is go into the game, open your boxes and enjoy your shiny new stuff. Don’t forget to also claim the boxes in September and October – it would be a shame to let them pass you by! Should you not have Overwatch (or Amazon/Twitch Prime) don’t sweat it – you have time to get them until September 3rd. That’s the last day you can still claim your free Hammond pack!
