As esports and betting become more closely aligned over time, we’re seeing many more opportunities for the two industries to cross over. Recently, betting giant Betway announced the second iteration of its in-house tournament, the Battle of Betway. This competition will feature what’s known as ‘showmatches’ – tournaments played with a one-off or special event that have no real bearing on the wider esports community.
The first Battle of Betway was hosted in January of 2021, and it featured just BIG and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Now, Betway has decided to step things up, bringing in multiple teams that it sponsors from around the world. On the 20th of October, the likes of BIG, FURIA, G2, MIBR, and Ninjas in Pyjamas will compete head-to-head for bragging rights and an as of yet unknown prize pool.
Let’s break this event down.
Battle of Betway – Schedule and Overview
There are five teams competing in the Battle of Betway, featuring some of the world’s greatest CSGO talent. For this exhibition, the play will be split into two stages: Group, and Playoffs. In the opening fixtures, we’ll see teams compete in a single round-robin format, playing BO1 (MR24) rounds, sparring against each other once. When that round has been completed, the top three teams will advance into the Playoffs.
This is where the competition heats up a little, with the top three teams entering into a single-elimination gauntlet-style battle. Again, the matches are Bo1 (MR24), so every point, kill, plant, and defuse will be important. It’s a totally different format to the first Battle of Betway, wherein the two teams featured played a simple Bo5 series. Owing to the success of the event, Betway has decided to make things a little more complex this time around, and there may be a monetary prize pool up for grabs.
In a statement handed out by Adam Savinson of Betway, the size of the tournament was praised:
Battle of Betway is our most ambitious CSGO sponsorship activation to date; bringing together our teams from around the world to compete against each other in an epic Betway tournament.
Battle of Betway – Best Betting Opportunities
It might seem bizarre, but esports betting platforms other than Betway are offering markets for this competition. Although, it isn’t that hard to believe, given that CSGO betting makes up some of the most popular markets in esports betting, period. However, if you’d like to keep it all in-house, we can massively recommend using Betway to place a few wagers on the Battle of Betway.
In fact, why not take full advantage of the event and try out Betway’s esports bonus – it won’t hurt to have a little boost, after all. Betway also offers an attractive €30 Welcome Bet bonus, which all new bettors should definitely capitalise on. It’s awarded in the form of a free bet, which you can use on your Battle of Betway wagers.
In January, the first Battle of Betway was won by BIG, landing a 3 – 2 victory over NiP – can the German team repeat that performance? According to Betway’s odds, that isn’t likely. In fact, working with the best Battle of Betway predictions, it seems that Ninjas in Pyjamas is the leading favourite to win the tournament, followed close behind by G2 Esports. Although, Brazilian team FURIA has had a fairly strong year where CSGO is concerned.
Right now, we can fairly say that it’s anyone’s game.
But, if you want to take advantage of the CSGO betting on offer, be sure to check out the full range of markets. There are plenty of wagers to choose from, ranging from outright winners and total rounds to pistol rounds and odd or even markets.
Countdown to Kick-off
